Driven by Detail: Aleksandar’s Path as QA Software Tester at avilo
Hi Aleksandar, how are you today?
Productive, haha — doing great
That’s great to hear! As the newest member of avilo, can you tell us about your position and what excites you most about joining the team?
Yeah, sure. I'm the QA Software Tester—a job I've been striving to get for quite a while now. What excites me the most is being part of creating an internal product/software from the start. I like to be an important piece of the puzzle in every scenario in my life, and I think I've found the perfect place for that. There’s also a great sense of accomplishment that comes from polishing finished products... win, win, win!
That sounds exciting! As a QA Software Tester, what do you think are the most important qualities or skills for someone in your position?
I believe a keen eye for detail is the most important quality. Also, being able to multi-task—or as I like to call it, juggle many things at once—is crucial. One project might need a sanity check, another requires planning, and yet another might need API testing, all without losing focus on delivering a high-quality product. And last but not least, communication is key. Being able to effectively communicate with your teammates—whether you're talking tester-to-developer or even contributing to a marketing post like this—is something everyone should work on until it becomes second nature.
It’s clear you value attention to detail and communication. Now, let’s get to know you a little better. How would you describe yourself in three sentences?
I'm ambitious.
I can live with very little but strive for very much.
I'm always happy but never satisfied.
I'm running every day from being average.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time when you’re not working or testing software?
Spending time with my wife is the first thing that comes to mind. Whether it's a nature hike (even if she thinks it's too far) or watching a comedy sitcom together to relax—especially on weekends. When I'm not working, I also enjoy going for long runs and training, though I consider that part of working on myself constantly. In short, I value spending quality time with my family and challenging myself every day—no days off.
You seem to have a strong focus on personal growth. What’s the next big goal you're working toward, either professionally or personally?
Professionally, I want to excel in my role and help my colleagues as much as possible. I have a long journey ahead and a lot to learn. However, eventually, I’m aiming to become a Business Analyst—a goal I've been thinking about a lot lately. Someday, I'd love to have dinner with some extraordinary and influential people who are there to listen to my sales pitch. After all, you miss 100% of the chances you don't take.
When it comes to my personal life, here's one of my big goals: to run 100k in under 12 hours.
It’s exciting to hear about your aspirations! Who or what inspires you the most in your journey toward achieving these goals?
That's an interesting question—one I've thought about many times while staring at the ceiling. I come from humble beginnings. As a child, I used to dream about things I didn't have: a big house with a pool, a large soda with a sandwich, Christmas decorations that made the neighbors jealous, fresh sneakers, a PlayStation, and an electric bill that was never out of reach. Once I grew up, I forgot about those material things and focused on the journey, the connections, the daily actions, and helping people. I realized that I can live without material things, but giving only 50% in everything in life is not an option for me.
To answer your question, it's not just "what" inspires me—it's "who." I'm constantly inspired by entrepreneurs like Steiner, who are truly in it to win it. I also look up to people like David Goggins, Jocko Willink, Chad Wright, and many others who use fitness to preach that training can change your perspective on the world and help you improve in every aspect of your life. Hopefully, one day, I can be on the other side and inspire more people to move, to want more from life, and to ignore society’s limiting voice.
Your perspective on growth and the people who inspire you is truly powerful. To wrap things up, what’s one thing you’ve learned along the way that you wish everyone knew?
On my journey so far, I've learned that tomorrow is not promised! Every day is a new chance to be better. Every single person on the planet knows this, yet many waste enormous amounts of time, only putting on a smile when it's the weekend. You can be busy and happy at the same time. You can have ten tasks with a tight deadline and still wear a smile. Whether it’s dealing with traffic or waiting in a long line at the bank—don't stress about the small things and never take a single moment for granted. Get up and get it done. That's the lesson and advice I live by.
