Installing the Washd Scanning Cage at Ålesund Vekst: A Step Toward Smarter Laundry Management

We are happy to announce yet another successful Washd installation! This time, we brought our latest innovation to Ålesund Vekst, a well-established facility in western Norway. With the implementation of the Washd Scanning Cage, we’ve enhanced textile tracking and accuracy, making laundry operations more efficient than ever.

About the Installation

Installing the latest Washd Scanning Cage at Ålesund Vekst was a project led by the avilo team, with Karl Inge, the department manager at Ålesund Vekst, being the first to use the system. This installation marks a significant step forward in textile scanning efficiency, providing a reliable and high-accuracy solution for managing large volumes of textiles.

The Installation Process

One of the standout aspects of this installation was how efficiently it was completed. From configuration to testing, the entire process took less than three hours, proving that implementing cutting-edge technology doesn’t have to mean downtime or disruption.

A key factor in the success of this installation is the antenna strength within the scanning cage. Unlike open scanning areas where signals may pick up unintended textiles, the cage ensures maximum precision with minimal signal leakage. This significantly improves scanning accuracy, reducing the need for manual adjustments and saving valuable time.

How the Washd Scanning Cage Improves Efficiency

The benefits of the Washd Scanning Cage go beyond just installation speed. This system is designed to provide major advantages for laundry operations, particularly when handling large volumes of textiles. Some key improvements include:

  • More Reliable Textile Tracking – Ensuring that the correct items are identified and sorted with minimal errors.

  • Flexible Placement – The cage can be mounted wherever the customer needs it, making it adaptable to different facilities.

  • Blocks Unwanted Signals – The enclosed design effectively blocks signals from nearby textiles, allowing you to use surrounding space for storage without interfering with scanning accuracy.

  • Fast and Efficient Scanning – Delivers quick and accurate results, streamlining operations and saving valuable time.

Though exact processing numbers are still being collected, early results indicate a significant increase in the percentage of correctly identified textiles compared to previous methods.

A Game Changer for Ålesund Vekst

When Karl Inge and the team at Ålesund Vekst first tested the Washd Scanning Cage, they immediately noticed the difference. The ability to scan textiles without interference from nearby stored items was a major improvement.

Previously, textiles stored close to scanning stations could create challenges by being incorrectly detected. With the scanning cage, this issue is completely removed, leading to more accurate and efficient processing.

Lessons and Future Enhancements

This project at Ålesund Vekst is another step in our commitment to bringing innovative, user-friendly digital solutions to the laundry industry. By improving accuracy, reducing scanning time, and making textile management more seamless, the Washd Scanning Cage is proving to be an essential tool for modern laundry operations.
